About the course
Study how physical quantities are measured and how engineered systems are monitored and controlled. The proposed outline links electrical and computing principles with reliable instrumentation. Southern African applications should address a defined industrial or service need, with measurement quality and the consequences of control failure included from the start.

Requirements
- Recommended preparation includes strong mathematics, physical science, technical English and computer literacy. BMIT must publish its approved admissions and recognition-of-prior-learning rules before enrolment decisions. Comparator universities set their own thresholds. Their credits, module codes and duration have not been transferred to this outline.

The subjects are grouped by learning stage, from foundations to specialist study and supervised application. Complete earlier foundations before the related advanced work. Clinical, laboratory, field and workplace subjects use approved facilities and supervision appropriate to the programme.

Practical application
Practical work requires supervised low-risk teaching rigs, suitable instruments and documented operating limits. Learners should record calibration traceability and compare predicted with observed system response. Industrial control changes require separate authorisation. Safety-critical systems must not be tested through an unsupervised student project.
